A ray of light in the American horizon

Whatever happens between now and November 2008, Barrack Obama will continue to find himself at crossroads. Currently, he finds himself in a very akward position; on the one hand is his genuine ambition to bridge the gap between the USA and the rest of the world on issues such as relations with the so called "axis of evil" as well as other global issues that America has not been so open about; on the other hand is the ever-present need to appease an American voting public that has been held prisoner by decades of negative campaigning.

For so many years, a large section of the American public has been deprived of the real picture beyond their borders through selective media coverage and propagandist agendas that only serve to spread fear in them. That Barrack's task is onerous is obvious to everyone; he has to rid himself of the tag of a non-starter when it comes to the White House; he has to overcome the sideshows created by his opponents about trivial issues such as "bitterness" and "elitisim". He has to continue SPREADING his message of hope and change instead of getting distracted by such side shows.

At the end of the day, when the working class of America thinks about it, they are indeed "bitter"; bitter that they have to think about their security all the time; bitter that they are continuously being burdened by the taxman; bitter that the unemployment gap continues to widen; bitter that politicians continue to renege on their election pledges with impunity.
No matter what Obama says, or McCain or anybody else. No matter how Fox News interprets Obama's statements, the fact in those statements cannot be denied; it is time Americans opened their eyes...

Stifled Dreams©

I am 7 years old
Here I am
My Dreams you ask?
To be president is my ambition
To lead to prosperity my nation is my notion
To ensure my people get their portion of the daily ration
My one and only vision.

I am 17 years old
Here I am
My Dreams you ask?
Maybe being president was just a mirage
I guess “judge” would be equally as sage
Although not for nearly half the wage
“I am not yet the right age”
That my time has not come, I acknowledge.

I am 27 years old
Here I am
My Dreams you ask?
To meet the president would be my fancy
To let him know of my life’s futility
To live life in all normalcy
Not to be hounded by insanity
But only to exist in all simplicity.

I am 37 years old
Here I am
My Dreams you ask?
I still am not president
“I have not yet matured”, so they say
Educated at the best I may be
But the future, not now is my day
And so others join the fray
Determined they are to keep it that way.

I am 47 years old
Here I am
“I will still be president!” I maintain
And so for the grand march I campaign
But alas! With this comes the pain
One or two changes we attain
But that is as far as we gain
As the big man steadfastly holds on to the reins.

I am 57 years old
Here I am
To be president I have dreamed all along
As so determined, ahead we vigorously throng
But ahead comes a different kind of song
Those to a generation past I belong
And for me to harbor any ambitions would be wrong
And so he steadfastly holds on strong.

I am 67 years old
Here I am
I was this close to being president
But my mind they tormented
And all this I tolerated
That I am now a non-resident is their argument
And so gone is my excitement
All I want is to live my life silent
Hoping that others do not follow the precedent
Of ever dreaming of being president.
